Yesterday I played my 300th course at Golf24. I love exploring the different courses and conditions available. My scores have ranged from 107 to 66 over that time and there has been a huge improvement both at G24 and on the course.
My takeaways from the last 2 years of playing:
- Lessons are worth their weight in gold. You don't know what you don't know, accept it and get a lesson. A small change that a coach notices could change your game.
- A ball in the fairway beats a long drive in the rough every day of the week. Distance is not king unless you are a low HCP golfer.
- Get excellent from 100m in, Dave bangs on about it but it is where the most shots can be saved. It is also something that anyone can do, you don't need to have a huge swing to be good from this range.
- Turn manual putting on. I've only recently discovered this but it has made a huge difference to my on course putting when it comes to speed control. It takes a little getting used to on the sim but pays huge dividends.
- Challenge yourself at different levels. Some of my highest scores have been on 1 star rated courses, one of my best is on a 4 star course. Have fun with it.
I'd like to thank the staff at Golf24 for all the support and help they have given me over the past 2 years. I find my time there relaxing and enjoyable and look forward to every session I can get in there.
Above all, have fun.
